This original exhibition poster was created to accompany Richard Diebenkorn’s celebrated Ocean Park Series: New Work exhibition at Marlborough Galerie in Zürich, showcasing a fresh evolution of his most iconic body of work.

The Ocean Park series, begun in the late 1960s, marks a pivotal moment in Diebenkorn’s career—merging the rigor of abstraction with the lyrical sensibility of landscape. Influenced by the light and geometry of Southern California, the series is known for its luminous fields, subtle layering, and architectural spatial divisions.

This poster not only commemorates a significant international presentation of Diebenkorn’s work, but also captures the elegant minimalism and painterly complexity that define the Ocean Park series. A rare and collectible piece of exhibition ephemera from one of the leading figures of American modernism.

About the Artist

Richard Diebenkorn

Richard Diebenkorn was an American painter associated with the Bay Area Figurative Movement of the 1950s and 1960s. He alternated between abstract and figural paintings throughout his career. His version of Abstract Expressionism became an important counterpart to the more well-known brand of the movement popularized by such artists as Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning.
