Andy Warhol made art out of things people usually ignore. Cans of soup, famous faces, dollar signs, newspaper photos. He chose these images because they were already everywhere. By repeating them, he forced people to actually look at how much power everyday images have. What Warhol changed was the idea of what art could be about.
