Jonas Wood’s *Face Painting* captures a playful, intimate moment as the artist’s daughter applies color to her face while looking into a mirror. Reflections, frames and objects overlap throughout the composition, transforming the familiar scene into a densely layered arrangement of pattern, color and perspective.

The image is both a family portrait and a picture about making pictures. Wood’s daughter records herself with an iPhone as she paints her face, creating a scene in which photography, painting, reflection and performance all come together. This offset lithographic poster was created for Wood’s landmark 2019 exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Art, his first major solo museum exhibition.
