Original Exhibition Poster, Galerie Carpentier, Paris, 1989.

This original exhibition poster was produced for Chats et Mutants, a presentation of oil paintings and watercolors by Tana Kaleya held at Galerie Carpentier in Paris from December 7, 1989 through January 12, 1990.

The image features a mysterious hybrid figure emerging from a softly textured field of color, blending feline and human characteristics into a dreamlike presence. With its luminous eyes, dissolving contours, and atmospheric tonal transitions, the composition evokes themes of metamorphosis, identity, and psychological introspection. The work recalls the symbolic and surreal figurative tradition associated with artists such as Leonor Fini, where myth, sensuality, and animal symbolism converge.

Printed in the pre-digital poster era, the poster exemplifies the refined exhibition graphics of late twentieth-century Paris galleries, functioning both as an announcement and as an autonomous artwork. Today it stands as a compelling document of the revival of poetic figuration at the end of the twentieth century, when artists revisited surrealist imagery through a contemporary lens.
