This original exhibition poster was produced for a solo exhibition by Danièle Claquin held at Galerie Camion on rue des Beaux-Arts in Paris from December 7 through December 18, 1980.

The image presents a lyrical composition in which a delicately outlined female profile merges with richly rendered floral forms, creating a poetic dialogue between figure and nature. Characteristic of early-1980s Parisian figuration, the work blends symbolic imagery with decorative elegance, reflecting a renewed interest in narrative and emotional expression following the conceptual art movements of the previous decade.

Printed in the pre-digital poster era, the poster exemplifies the refined graphic tradition of Left Bank galleries, where exhibition announcements were conceived as autonomous artworks. Today it stands as a compelling document of the vibrant Paris gallery culture of the period.

About the Artist

Daniele Claquin

Danièle Claquin is a French artist active in the Paris gallery scene during the late twentieth century. Exhibiting in independent galleries on Paris’s Left Bank, including Galerie Camion on rue des Beaux-Arts, Claquin developed a body of work characterized by poetic figuration and symbolic imagery. Her compositions frequently explore the relationship between the human figure and nature, combining stylized profiles, floral motifs, and decorative color harmonies. Working during a period marked by a renewed interest in expressive and narrative painting following the conceptual art movements of the 1970s, Claquin’s imagery reflects the broader revival of figurative and symbolic painting that emerged in France around 1980. Although primarily associated with gallery exhibitions rather than large institutional presentations, Claquin participated in the vibrant network of Parisian cultural spaces that sustained contemporary artistic production during this period. Exhibition posters and printed materials remain important documentation of her artistic activity and contribution to the poetic figurative tradition of late twentieth-century French art.
