This striking original poster features a reproduction of one of Yves Klein’s iconic gold monochrome works, a powerful example of the artist’s exploration of material, light, and immateriality. Known for his radical approach to color and surface, Klein extended his investigations beyond his celebrated International Klein Blue to include gold leaf compositions that evoke both spiritual and elemental associations.

The image presents a richly textured gold surface, composed of layered leaf applications that catch and reflect light in subtle variations. The irregular, tactile quality of the surface emphasizes the physical presence of the material while simultaneously suggesting something transcendent—an interplay between the tangible and the infinite that lies at the core of Klein’s artistic vision.

Gold, for Klein, symbolized immaterial value and timelessness, often referencing both sacred art traditions and the concept of the void. In this work, the shimmering surface becomes a field of contemplation, inviting the viewer to engage with light, depth, and perception rather than representation.

The poster’s minimalist layout—featuring generous white margins and understated typography—perfectly complements the purity and intensity of the central image, allowing the gold composition to command full attention.

Printed in Europe, this piece is a compelling example from the pre-digital poster era, valued for its refined printing and its connection to one of the most influential artists of the post-war period.

A bold and highly decorative work, ideal for collectors of contemporary art, minimalism, and iconic post-war European artists.

About the Artist

Yves Klein

Yves Klein (1928–1962) was a French artist and a key figure in post-war European art. A leading member of the Nouveau Réalisme movement, Klein pioneered performance art and influenced minimal and pop art. His 1957 exhibition Proposte Monocrome, Epoca Blu in Milan featured 11 identical blue canvases using ultramarine pigment suspended in synthetic resin, which Klein called "The Medium." This technique led to the creation of International Klein Blue (IKB). Klein also took steps to preserve the authenticity of his color by depositing a Soleau envelope for his formula. The paintings were mounted on poles 20 cm from the walls, enhancing their spatial effect.
