MAURICE ESTEVE Arizovert, 1972
“Arizovert” by Maurice Estève is a vibrant original lithograph printed in 1972 from an edition of 3,000. Born in Culan, France in 1904, Estève became one of the leading figures of postwar French abstraction, celebrated for his lyrical compositions of interwoven forms and radiant color harmonies. In addition to painting, he worked extensively in lithography, textile design, and mural projects, bringing a uniquely decorative sensibility to modern abstraction.
Published by XXe Siècle under the supervision of renowned Italian art historian and publisher San Lazzaro, the lithograph was printed by the legendary Mourlot atelier in Paris, one of the most important print studios of the 20th century. Dense, richly colored, and visually dynamic, the composition reflects Estève’s mastery of balance between geometric structure and painterly spontaneity.
Produced during the pre-digital poster era, the work retains the depth and texture associated with traditional lithographic printing. Unframed, not numbered, and issued without margins, this striking abstract composition remains a sophisticated example of mid-century European modernism. Framing available upon request.
