Original first-edition poster created for James Rosenquist’s exhibition Pearls Before Swine, Flowers Before Flames at the Leo Castelli Gallery, New York, opening October 20, 1990. The image reproduces one of Rosenquist’s monumental wall-sized canvases, characteristic of his bold Pop Art style that merges commercial imagery, abstraction, and brilliant color.

Beautifully printed on heavy coated paper, this poster exemplifies the high production quality associated with Castelli Gallery publications and captures the visual dynamism and layered symbolism that define Rosenquist’s work. A striking collectible from one of the artist’s late-career exhibitions.

About the Artist

James Rosenquist

American painter James Rosenquist (b.1933) was known for being the most openly political artist in the Pop Art movement. Rosenquist began his career as a billboard painter, a skill he would apply in his later monumental paintings in which he depicted a fragmented view of society with sourced imagery from commercial, social and political sources.
