Striking limited edition exhibition poster published by Pace Gallery in 1971. Printed without text or numbering, the composition relies entirely on bold color relationships and strong graphic abstraction, creating an image that is both visually immediate and psychologically charged.

The design centers on a dramatic black form that simultaneously suggests an abstract mask, animal presence, or mirrored human profile. Surrounded by intense fields of red, yellow, violet, and deep blue, the image demonstrates the powerful visual language associated with early 1970s contemporary print design and hard-edge abstraction. The simplified forms and saturated colors create a dynamic optical tension that gives the work a strong Pop and Op-Art sensibility while remaining distinctly minimalist.

Published during a highly creative period for American contemporary galleries, this poster reflects the era when institutions and galleries increasingly commissioned limited edition exhibition graphics as collectible works in their own right. Unlike later mass-market reproductions, early gallery-issued posters from the pre-digital poster era were produced in comparatively small quantities using high-quality offset printing techniques designed to preserve the richness and intensity of the original artwork.

The absence of typography allows the image to function almost as a pure abstract composition, making it especially appealing for modern interiors and collectors drawn to geometric abstraction, color-field aesthetics, and museum-quality exhibition graphics of the 1960s and 1970s. Pieces of this nature have become increasingly desirable as original gallery posters continue to disappear into private collections.

A visually commanding and sophisticated work that bridges fine art, graphic design, and collectible exhibition ephemera.
