This first edition screenprint, designed and created by renowned artist Robert Motherwell, was commissioned for the Mostly Mozart Festival presented at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City in 1991. Although it was originally intended to serve both as a print and a poster, only a few signed screenprint were produced due to illness. This limited edition piece was printed on high-quality Arches paper, with a total edition size of 800.

Robert Motherwell

Robert Motherwell (1915–1991) was a prominent American painter and printmaker associated with the Abstract Expressionist movement. Born in Aberdeen, Washington, he studied at Stanford University and later earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Harvard. Motherwell gained fame for his "Elegy to the Spanish Republic" series, reflecting the Spanish Civil War's influence through bold, gestural brushwork.
