This is a reproduction of a photograph taken at the Rodez Cathedral, featuring one of the renowned stained-glass windows designed by French artist Pierre Soulages. Soulages, a key figure in post-war abstract art, is celebrated for his innovative use of black and light, a concept he calls "noir-lumière." His work on the Rodez Cathedral, completed between 1987 and 1994, marked a significant departure from traditional stained glass. The windows, created in collaboration with glassmaker Jean-Dominique Fleury, feature abstract patterns that manipulate light in a modern and minimalist way, transforming the cathedral’s interior with an ethereal, almost meditative atmosphere. This project represents a bold fusion of contemporary abstraction with the ancient art of stained glass, situating Soulages' work within both modern and religious art traditions.
