About the Artist

Robert Ginder

Robert Ginder (b. 1948 - ) is an American photorealist painter born in Alamosa, Colorado. A large portion of his paintings are distinguished by a gilded background with a photorealistically rendered foreground of everyday objects such as houses, street scenes, palm trees or fruit still lives. Many of the works furthermore are created with a rounded top edge, making them reminiscent of Catholic art of the Renaissance era, such as paintings of the Virgin Mary. Ginder has exhibited extensively in New York and California, amongst other places, and is in numerous permanent collections in the US, most notably at the Brooklyn Museum.
