This charming scene from the artist’s earlier period captures a tranquil view of Huntingdon, Quebec, where the Old Huntingdon Mill rests peacefully along the Châteauguay River as water cascades gently over the falls. The composition evokes a deep sense of nostalgia and respect for local history — a quiet tribute to small-town life and a poetic reminder of a time gone by, rendered with warmth and authenticity characteristic of Baird’s early work.

About the Artist

Dwight Baird

Canadian born artist Dwight Baird has been painting full-time for the last forty-five years. For the last twenty years, Baird has been working in acrylics, developing a new style of contemporary realism - mixing broad impressionist brush strokes combined with specific detailed areas in his work. He is also a member of the Canadian Watercolour Society. Baird has produced an extensive series of pieces on Cuba, depicting many facets of the daily struggle throughout the country. These works are not only a dramatic illustration of the challenges of urban life but also a historical documentation of a country striving for dramatic change - a pictorial record of a time in their history which will never be seen again.
