Framed in an ornate wood frame with a front profile of 1 1/2 inches and a side profile of 1 inch, this piece is elegantly seated behind a 4-inch mat. This is Edition #669/900, published by Editions Ararat, Paris. The work is plate-signed and numbered 669/900.

The image reflects Sonia Delaunay's exploration of fashion, featuring a model adorned in a long dress decorated with motifs emblematic of the late 60s and early 70s—vibrant colors and bold, flowing lines. Behind the model stands a classic three-panel folding screen, often used in dressing rooms, which complements the scene with colorful motifs in earthy tones of brown, orange, and black. This piece captures the era’s spirit, merging fashion and abstract design in Delaunay's distinctive style.

About the Artist

Sonia Delaunay

Sonia Delaunay was a French-Ukrainian painter known for her work in Simultanism and the Orphism movement, which explored color contrast and abstraction. Alongside her husband, she created art that blended Cubism and vibrant color theory, earning praise from critics like Guillaume Apollinaire for its musical and poetic qualities. Beyond painting, Delaunay designed textiles, furniture, and fashion influenced by Ukrainian culture. In 1964, she became one of the first women to have a retrospective at the Louvre. Notable works include Electric Prisms (1914) and Yellow Nude (1908), both showcasing her bold use of color over traditional beauty.
