About the Artist

Ronald Satok

Ronald Satok is a Canadian artist known for his association with Circle Gallery, a prominent art gallery chain active during the 1970s and 1980s. Circle Gallery was instrumental in promoting contemporary artists and making art accessible to a broader audience. Satok's work, characterized by its vibrant colors and dynamic compositions, was featured in several exhibitions organized by the gallery. While specific details about his artistic style and career are limited, his collaboration with Circle Gallery contributed to the dissemination of contemporary art during that era. Despite losing his eyesight in 1978, he continued to contribute to the arts and passed away in 2018. Regarding the relationship between Ronald Satok and Erté (Romain de Tirtoff), both artists were indeed associated with Circle Gallery, a prominent art gallery chain active during the 1970s and 1980s. Erté, renowned for his Art Deco designs, had exhibitions at Circle Gallery, including a notable 1978 show in Soho, New York. Satok's collaboration with Circle Gallery is evidenced by works like "Of Masks and Man," produced for the gallery. However, there is no substantial evidence to suggest that Satok was positioned as a successor to Erté or that he replaced him after Erté's tenure with the gallery. While both artists shared a connection with Circle Gallery and occasionally explored similar themes, their artistic styles and career trajectories remained distinct.
