In Urban Landscape #33, Jean Yves reimagines one of the most recognizable faces in American culture—Benjamin Franklin—through the lens of contemporary urban intervention. Drawn from the engraved portrait featured on the U.S. $100 bill, the image is immediately familiar, yet radically transformed.

The artist overlays this iconic symbol of wealth, authority, and historical legacy with bold, graffiti-style markings, including the emphatic phrase “BOMB,” disrupting the precision and order of the original engraving. Additional visual fragments—stickers, tags, and street textures—further fracture the image, situating it within the language of the modern city.

This juxtaposition creates a powerful dialogue between permanence and impermanence, value and vandalism, tradition and rebellion. The refined, highly detailed currency engraving—associated with stability and economic power—is confronted by the raw immediacy of street art, a form often linked to protest, expression, and transience. In doing so, Jean Yves challenges the viewer to reconsider the meaning of value, both cultural and monetary, in a contemporary context.

Printed on high-quality rag paper with rich, saturated pigmentation, the work captures the intricate linework of the original portrait alongside the layered, tactile energy of the urban interventions.

Issued in a limited edition of 10, each print is hand signed and numbered by the artist, reinforcing its exclusivity.

A bold and thought-provoking work that bridges Americana, pop appropriation, and contemporary street culture—highly appealing to collectors of urban and conceptual art.
