This striking original poster was created for an Alex Katz exhibition held at the Seibu Department Store in Shibuya, Japan, showcasing one of his most elegant and enduring images: Aida in a Red Coat.

Rendered in Katz’s signature style of bold color fields and crisp, simplified contours, the image features his lifelong muse and wife, Aida, portrayed with quiet sophistication. Her vivid red coat—stylized, chic, and commanding—contrasts beautifully with the clean, minimalist background, exemplifying Katz’s ability to distill personality and fashion into timeless visual statements.

This Japanese exhibition poster captures Katz at the height of his international acclaim, offering a rare and collectible glimpse into the artist’s refined world of contemporary portraiture. Both fashionable and emotionally restrained, Aida in a Red Coat stands as an archetype of Katz’s exploration of presence, elegance, and modern identity.

A standout piece for collectors of Pop-influenced portraiture and 20th-century art ephemera.
