Sieff, Jeanloup

JEANLOUP SIEFF Ina en contrejour/Ina in backlight, 1994

This evocative poster reproduces Ina, en contre-jour, a celebrated photograph by renowned French photographer Jeanloup Sieff, known for his poetic, sensual, and psychologically charged black-and-white imagery.

The image depicts a young woman—Ina—partially obscured behind glass and architectural framing, her figure softly illuminated from behind. The contre-jour (backlit) technique creates a delicate interplay of shadow and light, lending the composition a quiet intimacy and cinematic tension. Grain, contrast, and subtle tonal shifts heighten the sense of mystery, while the subject’s gaze draws the viewer into a suspended, almost voyeuristic moment.
