This artwork by Henri Matisse is a lithograph from the book Cinquante Dessins, published by Les Soins de L'Artiste in 1920.

First Edition. The portfolio was edited and printed by Matisse himself. This is one sheet from the self produced suite of 50 photo-lithographic reproductions of his drawings of women to accompany a 1920 exhibition of his work to coincide with his exhibition at Bernheim-Jeune, France. Only 1000 copies were produced, each drawing is plate signed Henri Matisse.

Elegance meets craftsmanship in this exquisitely framed piece. Encased in a beautifully ornate, gold-painted wooden frame with a bold 2 ¾" profile and a rich 1 ¾" depth, it exudes timeless sophistication. A luxurious 5-inch archival cream mat enhances the artwork, while the Optium plexi glaze ensures crystal-clear protection. A perfect statement piece for any refined space.

About the Artist

Henri Matisse

Henri Matisse focused on color and shape rather than detail. His work feels calm, balanced, and clear. This simplicity took confidence. Matisse believed art could communicate feeling directly without telling a story. He changed how people thought about beauty in art, showing that softness and pleasure could be powerful choices.
