This original lithograph invitation was produced for the release of the F.M. Manscapes portfolio by Ernest Trova, published by Pace Editions in 1970. The portfolio itself comprised ten signed and numbered silkscreens and represents a key moment in Trova’s exploration of his iconic “Falling Man” motif.

The image featured on the invitation reflects Trova’s distinctive visual language—repetitive, stylized human forms arranged in rhythmic, almost mechanical configurations. The composition conveys both movement and control, echoing the artist’s ongoing investigation into identity, duplication, and the human condition within a modern, industrialized context.

Printed as a lithographic invitation, this piece stands as a compelling example of period exhibition ephemera, capturing the intersection of fine art and gallery culture during a pivotal moment in postwar American art.

Professionally framed in white wood with a clean, modern presentation, the work is elevated into a refined, gallery-ready object that highlights its graphic strength and historical significance.

A rare and collectible piece of Trova material, offering both visual impact and a direct connection to one of the artist’s most recognized series.

Framing available upon request.

About the Artist

Ernest Trova

Ernest Trova (1927–2009) was a self-taught American surrealist and pop artist known for his signature "Falling Man" series, featuring an armless human figure. Born in Missouri, Trova was influenced by poetry and corresponded with Ezra Pound. He spent his life in the St. Louis area, where he has a star on the Walk of Fame. Trova's work, spanning paintings, sculptures, and prints, reflected his views on human imperfection and surrealism. He used comic character toys in some pieces and often cast sculptures in white bronze. His gift of 40 works helped establish the Laumeier Sculpture Park in St. Louis.
