Gustav Klimt's "Danaë" was painted around 1907-1908 and portrays the mythological figure from Greek mythology. Danaë was the daughter of King Acrisius of Argos, and in the myth, she was imprisoned by her father to prevent a prophecy that her son would kill him. Zeus, however, appeared to Danaë in the form of a shower of gold, impregnating her with Perseus. The painting symbolizes fertility, divine intervention, and the power of love. Danaë's encounter with Zeus as a shower of gold symbolizes both her vulnerability and her embrace of divine grace and destiny.
