Romare Bearden’s Early Carolina Morning captures a quiet moment that feels both intimate and alive. Rich in color and layered with detail, the composition draws you into a world where everyday scenes become something poetic and enduring. Bearden’s signature collage-inspired style brings movement and rhythm to the piece, giving it a sense of life that unfolds the longer you look.

This authorized silkscreen reproduction, published by American Vision Gallery Inc. with permission from the Estate of Romare Bearden, faithfully preserves the depth and vibrancy of the original work. It offers collectors and admirers a rare opportunity to bring one of Bearden’s most evocative scenes into their own space.

A small white dot appears in the red tile beneath the cat, a minor printing imperfection that does not affect the overall beauty or presence of the piece.

A timeless addition for those who appreciate art that tells a story and transforms a room.

About the Artist

Romare Bearden

Romare Bearden (1911–1988) was an African-American artist known for his powerful collages, as well as work in oils and cartoons. Born in North Carolina and later based in New York, he depicted scenes of Black life in the American South, emphasizing community and unity. After serving in World War II, he studied in Paris and explored themes of humanity and social justice. In the 1960s, he co-founded The Spiral, an art collective focused on civil rights. Also a writer and songwriter, Bearden supported emerging artists through the Bearden Foundation. The New York Times hailed him as “the nation's foremost collagist.”
