The official poster for the 2001 NBA All-Star Game, created by Dwight Baird, features his signature "headless player" concept. Rather than depicting specific players, Baird represents each NBA team with jerseys displayed in two lines, emphasizing unity and the league's collective spirit. The artwork captures the essence of basketball as a team sport, celebrating the diversity of talent across the league. Baird’s unique style and imaginative approach make this poster a dynamic tribute to the All-Star Game and the NBA’s rich culture.

About the Artist

Dwight Baird

Canadian born artist Dwight Baird has been painting full-time for the last forty-five years. For the last twenty years, Baird has been working in acrylics, developing a new style of contemporary realism - mixing broad impressionist brush strokes combined with specific detailed areas in his work. He is also a member of the Canadian Watercolour Society. Baird has produced an extensive series of pieces on Cuba, depicting many facets of the daily struggle throughout the country. These works are not only a dramatic illustration of the challenges of urban life but also a historical documentation of a country striving for dramatic change - a pictorial record of a time in their history which will never be seen again.
