In Indian Legends, Dwight Baird honors the legacy of the Cleveland Indians (now renamed the Cleveland Guardians), subtly incorporating jersey numbers into the artwork. These numbers likely pay tribute to legendary players from the team’s history:

#19 - Bob Feller: Hall of Fame pitcher and one of the most dominant players in MLB history, known as "Rapid Robert."

#21 - Bob Lemon: A Hall of Fame pitcher and a key figure during the Indians’ golden era in the 1940s and 1950s.

#7 - Al Rosen: A former MVP and slugging third baseman, one of the team’s standout hitters in the 1950s.

#9 - Minnie Miñoso: A trailblazing outfielder who spent part of his career with Cleveland and was known for his exceptional hitting.

Baird’s artwork skillfully incorporates these numbers, paying homage to the franchise’s history and its most celebrated legends.

About the Artist

Dwight Baird

Canadian born artist Dwight Baird has been painting full-time for the last forty-five years. For the last twenty years, Baird has been working in acrylics, developing a new style of contemporary realism - mixing broad impressionist brush strokes combined with specific detailed areas in his work. He is also a member of the Canadian Watercolour Society. Baird has produced an extensive series of pieces on Cuba, depicting many facets of the daily struggle throughout the country. These works are not only a dramatic illustration of the challenges of urban life but also a historical documentation of a country striving for dramatic change - a pictorial record of a time in their history which will never be seen again.
