In Pride n' Pinstripes, Dwight Baird pays homage to the storied legacy of the New York Yankees, honoring legendary players by inscribing their iconic numbers on batters’ gloves. The numbers and their likely references are:

#3 - Babe Ruth: The Sultan of Swat, one of the greatest players in baseball history, synonymous with power hitting and Yankees lore.

#5 - Joe DiMaggio: The Yankee Clipper, celebrated for his grace, hitting prowess, and his legendary 56-game hitting streak.

#7 - Mickey Mantle: The Mick, a Hall of Famer known for his switch-hitting power and heroics on the field.

#44 - Reggie Jackson: Mr. October, famous for his clutch performances and three home runs in a single World Series game.

Baird’s tribute captures the essence of the Yankees’ unparalleled history, immortalizing these baseball icons in an artistic celebration of pinstriped greatness.

About the Artist

Dwight Baird

Canadian born artist Dwight Baird has been painting full-time for the last forty-five years. For the last twenty years, Baird has been working in acrylics, developing a new style of contemporary realism - mixing broad impressionist brush strokes combined with specific detailed areas in his work. He is also a member of the Canadian Watercolour Society. Baird has produced an extensive series of pieces on Cuba, depicting many facets of the daily struggle throughout the country. These works are not only a dramatic illustration of the challenges of urban life but also a historical documentation of a country striving for dramatic change - a pictorial record of a time in their history which will never be seen again.
