Original lithograph poster created in 1968 for an exhibition of engraved works by Georges Braque, published by Maeght Éditeur. Titled Villa Medici, the poster exemplifies Braque’s refined approach to line and form, highlighting his mastery beyond painting and into printmaking. Printed in France, this piece was issued in conjunction with Maeght’s long-standing dedication to publishing and promoting original graphic works by leading 20th-century artists. The composition reflects Braque’s subtle balance between structure and lyricism, making it both a striking work of exhibition ephemera and a collectible artifact of modernist print culture.

About the Artist

Georges Braque

Born in Argenteuil on the Seine in northwestern Paris, 1882-1963. Georges Braque is the co-inventor of Cubism. Braque was a major 20th-century French painter, collagist, draughtsman, printmaker and sculptor. His most important contributions to the history of art were in his alliance with Fauvism from 1905, and the role he played in the development of Cubism. Braque’s work between 1908 and 1912 is closely associated with that of his colleague Pablo Picasso. Their respective Cubist works were indistinguishable for many years, yet the quiet nature of Braque was partially eclipsed by the fame and notoriety of Picasso.
