Caudieux, the singer, "as fat as a pig, dumpy, with a kind heart and a noble paunch... the king of shirkers, who had the honor of making his bow to Admiral Avellan" (G. de Montorgueil), appeared at the "Eldorado" and the "Ambassadeurs." Lautrec made several drawings and paintings of him, including the "Caudieux se maquillant," which is now at the Musee d' Albi.
