This enchanting reproduction titled Sunrise by Erté beautifully captures a moment of transformation and renewal, where a woman gracefully emerges from her cocoon, seemingly transformed into a delicate butterfly. The scene is bathed in the warm, radiant hues of a rising sun, symbolizing a new beginning and the blossoming of life.

The central figure, adorned in a flowing gown that resembles the delicate wings of a butterfly, is depicted in the act of reaching out, as if embracing the dawn of a new day. Her movement conveys a sense of freedom and lightness, with the flowing fabric of her cocoon-like garment trailing behind her, representing the shedding of the past and the embrace of a new identity.

About the Artist

Erte

Erte, or Romain de Tirtoff (1892 – 1990) was a Russian-born French artist and designer known by the pseudonym Erté, from the French pronunciation of his initials. He was a diversely talented 20th-century artist and designer who flourished in an array of fields, including fashion, jewelry, graphic arts, costume and set design for film, theatre, and opera, and interior decor. His highly distinctive and iconic style is inspired by Art Deco, and is characterized by dreamy and decorative fashion figures rendered with simplified two-dimensional forms, dramatic curling linework, and high contrast with the combination of black, white and selective color palettes, even sometimes with metallic silver or gold inks.
