About the Artist

Peter Nyborg

Peter Nyborg, born in Copenhagen in 1937, is a Danish painter and sculptor associated with Nordic expressionism. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts under Egill Jacobsen and Mogens Andersen. Nyborg's early works were influenced by the COBRA movement, particularly Carl-Henning Pedersen, featuring a subdued earth-tone palette. Over time, he developed a more abstract style reminiscent of American action painting, characterized by vibrant colors and dynamic compositions. Peter Nyborg continues to be an influential figure in contemporary Danish art, with a career spanning several decades and a body of work that reflects both his Nordic roots and his engagement with international art movements.
