Despite lacking a signature or edition number, it still represents Katz's artistic contribution to the festival and serves as a promotional piece for the event.

While the absence of a signature and numbering may affect its collectibility compared to signed and numbered editions, the poster still holds value as a representation of Katz's work and its association with the American Dance Festival. About the Artist

Alex Katz

Alex Katz (b. 1927) is an American painter, sculptor, and printmaker known for his flat, minimalist style in figurative and portrait work. Born in Brooklyn, he studied at The Cooper Union and Skowhegan School, where plein air painting influenced his approach. Katz has also designed sets and costumes for dance productions since 1959, including his 1984 lithograph Pas de Deux for the American Dance Festival’s 50th anniversary.
