About the Artist
Philippe Apeloig
Philippe Apeloig, born in Paris in 1962, is a renowned French graphic designer and typographer. He studied at the École Supérieure des Arts Appliqués Duperré and the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD). During the early 1980s, Apeloig interned at Total Design in Amsterdam, where he developed a keen interest in typography.

In 1985, he began his career as a graphic designer at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, implementing the museum's visual identity and creating the poster for the exhibition "Chicago, naissance d’une métropole." In 1988, Apeloig received a grant from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work with April Greiman in Los Angeles.

Returning to Paris, he established his own studio in 1989 and served as art director for the magazine Le Jardin des Modes. From 1993 to 1994, Apeloig was a fellow at the French Academy in Rome, Villa Medici, where he developed original typographic fonts, earning the Gold Award from the Tokyo Type Directors Club.
Apeloig has taught typography and graphic design at ENSAD, the Rhode Island School of Design, the Maryland Institute College of Art, and the Cooper Union School of Art in New York, where he also curated the Herb Lubalin Study Center of Design and Typography.
