Alberto Giacometti
Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966) was a Swiss sculptor, painter, and printmaker known for his distinctive, slender human figures that convey a psychological depth, reflecting the human condition rather than literal appearance. Born in a small Swiss town near the Italian border, he studied at the Geneva School of Fine Arts before moving to Paris in 1922 to work under sculptor Antoine Bourdelle. Influenced by cubism and surrealism, Giacometti became a prominent surrealist artist, working alongside figures like Picasso, Miró, and Max Ernst.
