In "Tirant sur le Violet," Kandinsky explores the interplay of geometric shapes and organic forms, using a dominant violet hue as the focal point from which other colors seem to pull or bleed. This technique creates a sense of movement and depth, characteristic of Kandinsky’s approach to abstract art. The composition is dynamic and engaging, with a balance of bold lines and fluid shapes that invite the viewer to explore the intricacies of the piece.

This five-color offset lithograph, titled "Tirant sur le Violet," is a high-quality reproduction of Wassily Kandinsky's 1923 painting. The print is on a satin surface printmaking board, enhancing its vivid colors and intricate details. It captures the essence of Kandinsky’s work, known for its dynamic use of color and abstract forms, making it a beautiful and faithful interpretation of the original artwork.

About the Artist

Wassily Kandinsky

Wassily Kandinsky (1866–1944) was a Russian painter and art theorist, credited with creating one of the first purely abstract works. Born in Moscow and raised in Odessa, he studied law before turning to art at age 30. Kandinsky taught at the Bauhaus in Germany until it was shut down by the Nazis in 1933, after which he moved to France. Influenced by color, folk art, music, and spirituality, his pioneering abstract style helped lay the foundation for modern abstract expressionism.
