This original exhibition poster was produced for a presentation of paintings and watercolors by the artist Iscan at Galerie Remarque in Trans-en-Provence, France. The exhibition, held from April 6 through May 31, introduced audiences to the artist’s lyrical landscape compositions rendered primarily in watercolor.

The image featured on the poster reflects Iscan’s characteristic sensitivity to atmosphere and place, depicting a tranquil countryside scene articulated through delicate tonal washes and refined linear detail. The composition evokes the pastoral traditions of European landscape painting while maintaining a contemporary graphic clarity typical of late twentieth-century French gallery posters.

Printed during the pre-digital poster era, the work exemplifies the craftsmanship of exhibition posters produced before computerized design processes, when galleries relied on finely printed offset lithography to promote exhibitions. Today, such posters function both as historical documents and as autonomous artworks, preserving the cultural life of regional French galleries and their artists.

An authentic artifact of the period, this poster represents a moment in the vibrant network of independent galleries that sustained figurative and landscape painting alongside the dominant avant-garde movements of the time.
