Kandinsky, Wassily

WASSILY KANDINSKY Murnau, 1994

Regular price $60

Rare exhibition poster from the Collection of European Masters series, published by Achenbach Editions for the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen. The image features a vibrant modernist landscape by Wassily Kandinsky, with bold areas of green, yellow, red, blue, and black forming a village-like scene of trees, rooftops, and distant architecture.

The strong color contrasts and simplified forms reflect Kandinsky’s transition from expressive landscape painting toward abstraction, making the poster both historically interesting and highly decorative. A refined museum-quality poster from the pre-digital poster era, ideal for collectors of European modernism, Expressionism, and important museum exhibition graphics. Framing available upon request.

About the Artist

Wassily Kandinsky

Wassily Kandinsky (1866–1944) was a Russian painter and art theorist, credited with creating one of the first purely abstract works. Born in Moscow and raised in Odessa, he studied law before turning to art at age 30. Kandinsky taught at the Bauhaus in Germany until it was shut down by the Nazis in 1933, after which he moved to France. Influenced by color, folk art, music, and spirituality, his pioneering abstract style helped lay the foundation for modern abstract expressionism.
