ALEJANDRO MARCOS Arrangement, 1967

Derives from a publication of 33 first edition lithographs in four colors, all completed for the final (6th) edition of The Situationist Times: International Parisian Edition, produced in the spring and autumn of 1967. Artists of thes two movements, CoBrA and Figuration Narrative, make up the bulk of the contributors to this 6th and last issue.

Alejandro Marcos’s compact 8.5 × 10.75-inch composition delivers a striking burst of color. A vivid orange-red field surrounds a fragmented, profile-like form, combining turquoise, green, and yellow shapes with intricate black-and-white mechanical imagery. Its bold contrasts and collage-like construction invite closer inspection.
