Additional Details: Lithograph in colors on Arches from Robert Indiana's "Mother of Us All" portfolio. Starting in 1965, Indiana collaborated with composer Virgil Thompson to design the sets and costumes for Gertrude Stein's 1947 opera "Mother of us All." Based on the life of Susan B. Anthony, who was one of the most famous proponents of women's suffrage in the U.S., the opera was presented as part of a Bicentennial celebration in 1976 by the Santa Fe Opera. Indiana made over 200 paper collages of his costumes and set designs. This portfolio was printed in Paris by Mourlot. Unsigned and not numbered.
